What can I expect at a counselling session?

After an initial consultation, there is no obligation to continue if you decide not to. We can use the time to explore the particular challenges for which you are considering Counselling. Your counsellor will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. Acknowledging the best way in which to work together. Together with your counsellor you will then be able to establish if this counselling practice is right for you.

The aim of this counselling practice is to concentrate on your concerns so you feel heard, respected and supported. To get the most from Counselling you will need to be open to change.

How many sessions will I need?

At Cherish counselling practice we offer both long and short term counselling sessions, the length of sessions needed will depend on the nature of the situation, individual needs and circumstances. During your initial consultation we will discuss what best works for you and your situation.

How long will my counselling session last?

Each session will last for 50 minutes.

What if I am unable to make it to a session?

Your time for an appointment is exclusively reserved for you, therefore 24 hour notification is required for cancellation of an appointment, otherwise full session fee will be charged.

What is Person Centred Counselling?

Person-centered counselling is based on the thought that individuals are full of potential for growth, with the right conditions everyone is capable of being loving, creative and knowledgeable. In person centered theory the core conditions, unconditional positive regard, congruence and empathy held by the counsellor will help to bring out the full potential in clients.

What is CBT-Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

CBT – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a talking therapy which combines both cognitive and behavioural therapies. Helping you to manage the way you think and behave. CBT encourages you to examine how your actions can affect how you think and feel.

What is Psychodynamic therapy?

Psychodynamic therapy/psychotherapy helps to understand and uncover the reasons behind a range of symptoms, emotional distress as well as relationship difficulties. It can help you understand how past experiences as well as current ways of thinking and relating and anxieties about the future can cause difficulties in your present life.
